For those of us that love to go with the flow, as long as we know what time the flow starts, what to wear to the flow, and if there will be parking.
Can I bring a plus one?
If you received a plus one, they will appear on your invitation. Please ensure that you RSVP for you and your guests.
Are kids welcome?
We love your little ones! However, due to limited space, we hope you understand that our wedding and reception will be adults only, with the exception of kids in the wedding party. Thank you for your understanding!
How do I get to Mendocino?
Mendocino is approximately a 3.5 hour drive from both San Francisco (SFO) and Oakland (OAK), which have nonstop flights across both coasts.
The Sonoma County Airport (STS) is around a 2 hour drive to Mendocino, making it the closest option, though most travelers won't have a non-stop option.
Once you make it to the Bay Area, we recommend renting a car. The beautiful drive along Highway 128 will take you past the rolling hills of wine country and through the redwoods until you reach the coast.
Where should we stay?
Mendocino is a small town, with many Inns, B&Bs, and Airbnbs. We recommend staying in the village at one of the options within walking distance of our venue. Most don't offer room blocks; rooms are first-come, first-served. Properties do book up, so we recommend making reservations early! We've pulled together some recommendations for you on the travel page.
Will there be transportation available?
We love that Mendocino is a walkable town with many small inns nearby. For our welcome party, if you don't want to walk or drive from town, we'll shuttle you down to Big River Beach. On our wedding day, we will have a shuttle available for those staying at one of our recommended hotels located outside the village. When you RSVP, let us know where you're staying so we can account for shuttle service.
Please note: Uber and Lyft are not available in Mendocino.
What should I wear?
The groom wanted Mendocino Modern. The bride wanted cocktail. So we compromised! We'd love for our guests to join us in garden attire. Florals and color encouraged — groundbreaking we know.
According to Martha Stewart, that means a suit or blazer with dress pants for men. For women, she recommends a midi-length cocktail dress, jumpsuit, or dressy separates.
Is the venue indoors or outdoors?
Our ceremony will be held inside at the Mendocino Presbyterian Church. Our reception will be held under a heated tent on the MacCallum House Lawn; plan your shoes accordingly!
What’s the weather like in Mendocino in September?
Mendocino in September requires a commitment to layers. You can expect temperatures to swing from “maybe I need a scarf” to “let me change into shorts” in a single day. Mornings will be a brisk, coffee-sipping 50°F. In the afternoons you’ll need your sunglasses as the temps creep toward 80°F. The evenings like to remind you that the Pacific Ocean is right there by cooling things right back down. Translation: pack like you’re going on three different vacations: cozy, misty mornings, sunny afternoons, and stargazing sweater weather. For Friday, be ready to get your shoes sandy and bring layers. It will get chilly once the sun goes down. On Saturday, the reception will be under a heated tent, so you’ll be toasty once the dancing starts, but a wrap or jacket is highly recommended.
Is Mendocino where Meghan Markle and Prince Harry live?
No, the Sussex's live in Montecito in Southern California, not Mendocino. Easy mix-up: both are beautiful coastal California towns with lots of charm.
While the Sussexes won’t be popping by (as far as we know), Mendocino has had its brush with fame. It’s been a filming location for several movies and TV shows, including "East of Eden," "Cujo," "Overboard," and our favorite — "Murder, She Wrote."
